A Moment of Gratitude: Honouring a Heartfelt Nomination

There are moments in life that feel like quiet gifts—unexpected, deeply personal, and profoundly moving. Recently, I received news of a nomination for the Patients Australia Outstanding Allied Health Professional award. While recognition is always appreciated, what makes this moment truly special is that the nomination came from a client.

This client, in an act of generosity and reflection, chose to “give back” by acknowledging the service and support they received. To be seen in this way—through the eyes of someone whose journey I’ve had the privilege to walk alongside—is humbling beyond words.

While the nomination itself is an honour, it’s the gesture that speaks volumes. It’s a reminder of the sacred trust that exists in therapeutic relationships, and of the quiet, powerful impact that compassion and presence can have.

Receiving this nomination was profoundly moving. I found myself tearful, nearly speechless at the incredible act of kindness. That someone would choose to use their time, energy, and courage to acknowledge another left me with a deep sense of gratitude.

Since then, I’ve allowed myself to fully sit with and soak in that gratitude. And I hope to use this moment to reflect on the power of gratitude itself—and how its practice can transform both ourselves and those around us.

Gratitude is the thread that weaves through every meaningful connection. It’s found in the courage of clients who show up, in the vulnerability shared in sessions, and in the mutual growth that unfolds over time. It’s also found in the quiet acknowledgments—like this nomination—that remind us why we do what we do.

So, I want to say thank you:

- To the client who offered this nomination—your gesture means more than I can put into words.

- To every person who has trusted me with their story—your courage is the heartbeat of this work.

- To the mentors, colleagues, and loved ones who support me behind the scenes—your presence makes this journey sustainable.

- And to the practice of gratitude itself, which continues to teach me how to see, honour, and cherish the full spectrum of moments life offers - even when, at first glance, the gift within the moment may be hidden from view.

If you’re reading this, I invite you to pause and reflect: Who has made a difference in your life? What small act of kindness has stayed with you? How might you express your own gratitude today?

Gratitude doesn’t need a stage—it simply needs a heart willing to notice.

With deep appreciation,
Georgia
